Black Point Compensation:

The darkest values are often clipped during processing.  They are seen as shadows and their loss is not seen as a flaw the the overall image.  What happens if the darkest areas are prioritized?  What happens when white is the margin?  These images are sourced from my body and in a larger context I ask, How do we compensate for what was lost?
